info
Nonux English Edition is the English language variant of the Dutch localized Linux desktop distribution Nonux (version 4.4). Nonux is optimized for daily use in a Small Office or Home Office but could also be an interesting alternative for someone who needs a no-nonsense but complete working environment for daily computer tasks. Nonux consists technically spoken of two main parts (besides the Linux kernel), parts of the Slackware Linux distribution as the base and dropline GNOME as graphical interface. The fundamental goal of Nonux is to provide simplicity, speed, reliability, security and minimal configuration. The Linux kernel is optimized for desktop use as are the installed software packages. So what to expect:
Portability: Just one disc, combined use as LiveCD and installer CD. Use the LiveCD in a safe way on an arbitrary PC (which supports CD-booting) without touching the hard disk drive.
Speed: The Linux kernel is optimized for desktop use.
No server software installed means speedier boot times and less overhead.
Stability: Nonux is based on Slackware Linux, one of the oldest Linux distributions, which has proven it's robustness over the years.
Security: No server software installed. No open ports.
Usability: Don't expect fancy 3D-rotating desktops or other eye candy, you just get a clean, non-intrusive working environment.
Simplicity: Pre-configured software environment, one piece of software per task.
Minimal configuration, start the LiveCD and be up and running in minutes.

The Nonux CD can be freely used, copied and distributed under the GNU General Public License.
